Cognitive and Cooperative Wireless Networking (认知协同无线网络)
摘要:
Today's wireless networks are regulated by fixed spectrum assignment policy, under which fixed spectrum slices will be assigned to license holders on a long term basis. As the demands for new wireless services are accelerating, it has been reported that there is basically no more spectrum to allocate. However, there exist a large number of frequency bands that are significantly under-utilized. To cope with such a dilemma, dynamic spectrum access with cognitive radio has recently been investigated, which is a novel paradigm that improves the spectrum utilization by allowing secondary users to reuse the unused spectrum owned by primary licensed users.
In cognitive radio networks, the resource unbalance is much more severe than the traditional wireless networks. The channel condition and the spectrum availability of end users are heterogeneous due to the location difference among different users and dynamic traffic of primary users. To study the unique characteristics of next-generation wireless networks, in this talk we propose cognitive and cooperative networking (CCN) to achieve the best connection and improve utilization of scarce radio resources. CCN is proposed to make devices cognitive to the environment and adaptable to the best performance by device cooperation. With CCN, the system will be able to create adaptable, on-the-fly wireless networks, based on the needs of the user without a centralized infrastructure support. After introducing the scope of CCN, I will present two concrete technologies to improve spatial diversity and spectrum diversity, respectively.
