摘要:

In this talk, I will first give an overview on the merging trend between the GPU architecture and CPU architecture. I will then show the implication of this trend to the future software applications and programming model. Then I will also talk about the challenges in the multi-core computing world and the upcoming war between CPU and GPU on who will be the dominate processing force for tomorrow's computing.

主讲人简历:

Liang Peng is a System Architect in Rambus Inc. He has worked in computer architecture areas including graphics processor (GPU), DSP, video decoding chip. Most recently, he is leading projects on system and memory solutions for future generation GPU and Game Console, which includes the memory usage model for multi-core GPU and CPU. He has worked at a number of companies in Silicon Valley including Nvidia, S3, Micronas and HP. His pioneer work of pixel shader on Nvidia's Geforce GPU is a major milestone in the GPU history to lead the trend of transforming the graphics processor from a specific ASIC CHIP to a programmable computing machine. He has a number of publications and patents in computer graphics, GPU architecture and video architecture. He is a member of ACM and IEEE. He has a PhD in EE from Cornell University and a BS in Astrophysics from Peking University.
